 The Law Offices of Thompson & de Leef were formed, in 2007, with the merging of two Houston criminal law practices. Charles Thompson started his legal career in aviation litigation, and then went on to spend over eight years as a prosecutor at the Harris County District Attorney's Office. Peter de Leef was hired by the Harris County District Attorney's Office where he spent more than four years as an Assistant District Attorney. Mr. de Leef left government service in 2003, and Mr. Thompson left in 2005. Both went into private practice, defending people accused of crimes in Texas. They found the experience they gained as prosecutors invaluable in properly defending people accused of crimes. As solo practitioners, Mr. Thompson and Mr. de Leef were referred many cases by criminal and civil attorneys, as well as past clients, and other members of the community. It was not long before they came to a point in their practices where they did not have the resources to take on more cases. The problem was more cases meant less time to properly deal with each case. The merger of Mr. Thompson and Mr. de Leef's practices was the next logical step. It allowed the practice to expand, and allowed the partners to handle the cases individually. In 2007, Mr. Thompson became Board Certified in the practice of criminal law. |
